Hi, my name is Sarah Funnell and I am thrilled to be able to introduce myself to the Old Grammarian network as the first ever Fundraising Development Manager at WGGS. I took up the role earlier this year following a background in charity fundraising.

I will be working closely with colleagues at the school as well as the Trustees from the school’s charity, the Women of Vision Trust to make sure we can raise funds to be able to continue to develop the school and its resources and facilities.

Watford Grammar School for Girls has a history rooted in philanthropy since Dame Elizabeth Fuller founded the Watford Free School in 1704. The Women of Vision Trust was set up in 1998 to encourage donations from parents, alumnae and friends of the school. Since then, the Trust has been able to contribute significant funds to the school to be able to fund large projects such as Hyde House Maths building, renovations to Lady’s Close and the building of the Tennet Centre sixth form block. These developments would not have been possible from government funding alone.

WGGS has some exciting new projects in the pipeline to develop and improve the school further. I look forward to being able to share these with you in due course and outline how the OGA network can get involved. In the meantime, if you would like to contribute towards the school via the Trust to ensure that every pupil now and in the future can benefit from an outstanding and unique learning journey, please click here.

I look forward to speaking to many of you soon.

Sarah
