Catharsis Yvonne Stirling

Yvonne has been writing stories and poems from a young age. A former chief laboratory scientist for the Medical Research Council, she is more used to writing scientific papers. She has had a children's book and a number of articles and poems published. Catharsis is her first full-length novel. Yvonne lives in Hertfordshire, spending her time writing, painting, reading and carving decoy ducks.

About the Book

A hidden hoard of letters. A forgotten past. The sister you hardly knew. In 1956, Elizabeth Cameron went to Uganda to work as a nursing sister and midwife. Her weekly letters home, carefully stored by her mother, and found over sixty years later by Alison, her younger sister, revealed life under British rule and the breakdown of law and order in the approach to Independence. She had not realised how the political upheaval provoked such love, sadness and tragedy not only for Elizabeth and Mark but for the people of Uganda whatever their colour, race or creed.
