Former pupil and staff member, Margaret Baxter, passed away on Saturday 20th May 2017.

Margaret was a pupil at WGGS from 1942-1950 and returned to teach Mathematics in 1957.  In 1987 Margaret became Head of the Department until she retired 1991.  Margaret gave many years of loyal service to the school and will be remembered for her dedication to her pupils, not only through her teaching but also her long standing role as Careers Advisor.  Her involvement with the school extended to the Old Grammarians’ Association Committee, for which Margaret was the Staff Representative for many years.  After retirement, Margaret also contributed to the Watford Grammar Schools’ book, Mrs Fuller's Free School, which was published in 2005.  In recent years Margaret enjoyed hearing from the recipients of the Margaret Baxter Prize for Mathematics, awarded for A Level performance.
