The first ever ‘Founders’ Giving Week’ at WGGS was launched on Monday 23 June 2025.

The aim of ‘Founders Giving Week 2025’ was to raise funds for The Women of Vision Trust by engaging students in philanthropic activities that will attract donations to the school’s charity.

A target of £5,000 was set for 2025 of which 74% was admirably achieved, securing a final total of £3,711 for The Women of Vision Trust. Thank you to everyone who donated towards this fantastic total.

The whole school was involved in the fundraising effort throughout Founders’ Giving Week, which continued beyond seven days to enable a great variety of events to go ahead.  Students developed some innovative ideas, and they had great fun too.  Activities included a Race Across the School and an Escape Room Quiz, organised by Year 7s, an Around the World Day party and a WGGS has Talent show, arranged by Year 12s for everyone to enjoy.  There were cake and ice-cream sales, tombola’s, a giant scratch card game and henna painting, a netball goal challenge, a sponsored walk and even a sponsored silence! Teachers also participated by getting sponged for the charity and showcasing their rounders skills in a keenly played staff match.

The students demonstrated keen entrepreneurial skills to arrange so many different activities throughout the week and their enthusiasm permeated throughout the school. Well done to the students for all their efforts in making this first event so successful.

Funds raised for The Women of Vision Trust, the school’s charity, continues to be a lifeline to the school, enabling us to provide an excellent education and learning environment for our students beyond what is received through government funding.

We look forward to the next Founder’s Giving Week in 2026.
